Aargauer Kuratorium Residency
Marcel Vaid is a German-born composer, musician and music producer for film and theatre. His work is inspired by his desire to create individual and discreet soundscapes, using digital techniques to produce unique backdrops for the films and theatrical projects he works on. Marcel’s film music has also been recorded by big symphony orchestras such as the Meran Symphony Orchestra, the 21st Century Orchestra Lucerne (with conductor Ludwig Wicky) and the Budapest Art Orchestra (conducted by André Bellmont).
Marcel has been nominated for the seven times for the Swiss Film Prize Quartz for Best Film Music, most recently in 2021 for the film Not Me – A journey with Not Vital. He has won this prize four times, for the films Zara (2009), Goodnight Nobody (2011), When the sun fell (2016) and Chris the Swiss (2019). He has also received the Prix Fondation Suisa for Tandoori Love (2009); the prize for Best Film Score at the Angers’ Film Festival for Joshua (2003). In 2012 he received the Zürich City Award.
